Job Description: 

The Compliance Specialist ensures that all operations within the licensed cannabis cultivation facility adhere to Ohio state regulations, company policies, and industry best practices. This role is responsible for monitoring, documenting, and reporting compliance-related activities to maintain operational integrity and regulatory adherence.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

Regulatory Compliance & Auditing

  • Monitor cultivation operations to ensure compliance with Ohio Division of Cannabis Control (DCC) regulations.
  • Conduct routine internal audits of records, inventory, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining compliance documentation, including required reports and logs.
  • Identify and report potential compliance risks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support inspections from state regulators and internal audits, ensuring readiness at all times.
 

Record-Keeping & Reporting

  • Maintains and enters accurate records for plant tracking, waste reporting, package creation, transport manifest generation, and cannabis inventory control.
  • Ensure timely and accurate Metrc seed-to-sale tracking system entries and reconciliations.
  • Assist in compiling reports for state agencies, including compliance filings, incident reports, and Metric audits.
  • Reports to Compliance Manager and Compliance Director on compliance and Metric related issues.
 

Facility & Operational Compliance

  • Oversee adherence to facility SOPs, including pest management, sanitation, security protocols, and product handling.
  • Ensure that facility signage, labeling, and packaging meet Ohio regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor employee adherence to compliance protocols, conducting spot checks and training refreshers as needed.
 

Training & Continuous Improvement

  • Assist in training cultivation and facility staff on compliance procedures and regulatory updates.
  • Stay current with Ohio cannabis laws, industry trends, and regulatory changes, providing insights for process improvements.
  • Collaborate with Compliance management to implement best practices and efficiency measures.
 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or related business program software required.
  • Cannabis industry experience preferred.
  • A flexible schedule is a must. Weekend work is required.
  • Forest Park, OH 45240: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work required.
  • Familiarity with Ohio cannabis regulations and Metrc tracking software (or ability to learn quickly).
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to work in a highly regulated, fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks.
  • Must pass all required background checks and meet state eligibility requirements for cannabis .
 

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand, sit, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying conditions (cold rooms, greenhouse environments, etc.).
  • Adherence to PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and biosecurity protocols required.
 

Salary: $20 per hour
